Connection

Our theme this year is "Connection". This can be interpreted by artists in a multitude of ways. Do you feel connected to your heritage? To nature? To your community? Have you sought ways to consider how materiality and expression have informed your art practice and connected others? Do you feel connected to yourself when applying paint to paper, weaving fabric or sculpting forms? We are looking for variety, creativity and imagination as well as expression, skill and artistic flair.

This year we are teaming up with the Museum of Enfield who have a 20,000 collection of artefacts and are excited to see if artists find connections and share this in their statement. Browse the collect now: Enfield Museums

Joe Barrow

Joe Barrow is an emerging figurative artist based in North London. He studied Contemporary Portraiture at the Art Academy, London. His practice is centred on creating work using a form of automatic painting.

In April 2025, Joe opened Palette and Frame Art Gallery. The gallery reflects Joe’s ethos that art belongs in everyday life and should be accessible and affordable. Too often, galleries can feel intimidating or exclusive. With Palette and Frame, Joe set out to change that, offering an environment where anyone - from first-time buyers to collectors - can feel at ease.

Its programme balances established and emerging artists - including many local artists - to create a vibrant mix of work, with something for everyone. With regularly updated exhibitions, weekly life-drawing classes and evening events, the Gallery is a destination where art lovers can meet exhibiting artists and browse the collections in a relaxed and informal environment.
